4th of July at Indiana Dunes

We went to the Indiana Dunes at Lake Michigan with Caleb's family over the weekend of the 4th. We had a good time, and the weather was great! We had heard that the water is too cold in the lake to swim in, but it really was do-able. No, it was not the in-laws 90 degree pool :), but we didn't have frost bite when we came out. For a lake, it really was pretty! Growing up on the gulf coast, it's obviously not the prettiest beach I've seen...but for a 2 1/2 hr drive, it was great!!! The water was surprisingly clear for a lake...brownish in color...but somewhat clear. The first few feet of the shore line was rocks. Bailey enjoyed playing in that, however, Mommy didn't enjoy sitting in that. :) We were only up there for half of Sat and all of Sun, but it was good while it lasted. We hung out on the beach coveting all of the boaters, and then went out to dinner and hung out in the hotel rooms. It was a good time. Thanks to Jeff and Anita for organizing it!

Lake Michigan from the top of what felt like a 6 hour hike carrying all of our beach gear and children! :)
So glad I brought her kiddy pool, she played in it a lot! The Dunes This pic doesn't do it justice. It really was very steep. The guys and Rachel & Anita all climbed it in the boiling sand. We were covetting the boats so much, we decided to buy one!
Kidding!! But man, do we want one! :) One day...!
Happy 4th of July! After the beach, we went to the outlet mall for a couple hours and then to dinner. Most of the fireworks were the night before (for whatever reason), so we didn't sit around w/ 2 tired kids waiting on them. Some of us saw them on the way to Walmart the night before in our car :) Bailey didn't enjoy them even in the car, so I'm sure outside would have been even worse!

Our cute patriotic model :)

The crew, minus Grandma taking the picture...before we headed home.

Couldn't leave Grandma out! What a cute picture :)
